FAQs:
What is accessibility like at The Trees?
- There is a gravel parking area right in front of the house and one a bit farther away (~75 ft walking distance on level ground).
- All indoor retreat spaces are on the main level; there are no stairs to navigate.
- Outdoor spaces will be available for optional individual exploration. There is a labyrinth accessible by walking trail (~150 ft from house). A place to sit outside and enjoy nature closer to the house will also be available to you.
- Please email me with any questions, concerns, or specific accommodations that would support you.
What will be served for lunch?
- We'll have a vegetarian lunch, often with vegan and gluten-free options (I'll ask you about any food sensitivities & allergies in advance).
- You're also more than welcome to bring your own lunch and/or snacks -- whatever makes you most comfortable!
What should I bring with me? What materials will be available?
- You might like to have these few essentials: a notebook/journal, a reusable water bottle, comfy clothes. You're also welcome to bring anything that would be nourishing during solo times!
- A couple yoga mats and props will be in the meditation/quiet room for communal use. You're welcome to bring your own props (especially if you want to settle in for a restorative posture).
- There will also be some arts/crafts supplies for your use and written journal/reflection prompts to explore.
Why are there different cost options?
- When you register, you're invited to choose the Pay-What-You-Can / sliding scale option that aligns with your situation and access to resources.
- If you are financially secure, paying the full cost ($150) is likely an appropriate exchange of energies. You are supporting the sustainability of future programming, including offering a sliding scale options for those with different current and historical economic realities.
What if my health/symptoms flare and I can't make the retreat?
- I recognize that life with chronic illness is inherently unpredictable. I want you to feel empowered and supported in making the right choice for you. If you aren't able to attend the retreat, I am happy to offer you a 1-to-1 session with me as an alternative, covered by your retreat registration.
Who is leading this retreat?
- This retreat will be led by Lindsay Voorhees, who is an occupational therapist, wellness coach, certified yoga teacher, and owner of Lindsay Voorhees Wellness.
- Lindsay is very passionate about helping others cultivate practices of intentional rest. She believes that rest is a human right (not a privilege) and foundational to whole-self health, especially for folks navigating chronic health issues.
