Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?
Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative partnership that inspires you to maximize your personal and professional potential, unlocking untapped sources of imagination, productivity, and leadership. All coaching sessions are confidential.
How is coaching different from mentoring or unlike therapy?
Here are the key differences between each approach:
Mentoring - Gives you solutions based on the mentor's personal experience
Consulting - Provides expert analysis and tells you what to do
Therapy - Focuses on healing past wounds and emotional patterns
Career Coaching - Uses tools and assessments to navigate job/industry decisions
Leadership Coaching - I believe you already have the answers and I will help you discover them.
What topics do you coach on?
As an ICF credentialed coach, I have been trained to hold space for any topic or issue the client brings.

That said, I find myself naturally drawn to certain types of coaching conversations. I love working with people who are standing at crossroads in their careers or lives - those pivotal moments where clarity makes all the difference. I also work extensively with leaders who are wrestling with the eternal challenge of work-life integration, and professionals who want to unlock their performance potential or step up their leadership game.

A significant portion of my practice involves coaching neurodivergent professionals, particularly those navigating ADHD. There's something deeply satisfying about helping brilliant minds discover the systems and strategies that work with their unique wiring rather than against it.

What are good coaching topics?
A good coaching topic is something personal or professional that is current, unresolved and important to you. It is something that you are unable to resolve yourself.

Examples:
“I want to transition out from my current role”
“I need help thinking through x...”
“I want to delegate more…”
“I cannot get this project at work done, and I need accountability”
“I need help planning for… (business goal, child, retirement, etc. )”
“I’m nervous about a presentation I have to give next week”
“I’ve been told my listening skills need to improve”

What kind of coach are you?
I am a credentialed Associate Certified Coach (ACC) at International Coaching Federation (ICF) with PCC level training. I received coach training through ACT Leadership & Performance Coaching and Brown University School of Professional Studies. I have logged well over 200 educational hours, and 250+ coaching hours. I engage in continuing education annually through ACT, ICF, and ADDCA.
What is the International Coaching Federation (ICF)?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the largest standardized coach training and certification body in the world, with a focus on ethics and professionalism. The basic level credential requires comprehensive training over 12 months with 100+ practice hours, and a proctored exam. The ICF audits coaches to ensure that they are rigorously adhering to the internationally recognized standard, using an evidence-based coaching framework, and adhering to the code of ethics. Continuing education is required to maintain the ICF credential.
How long is a typical coaching engagement?
Most coaching relationships run three to six months, though some extend longer depending on mutual interest, availability and goals. I require a six session minimum commitment for new clients - this aligns with coaching best practices and gives us enough time to create real, sustainable change.

What is your availability?
I'm generally available Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9-5 pm EST. Wednesdays are reserved for other commitments. I typically accept new clients on a rolling but limited basis, which allows me to balance my professional and family commitments while ensuring each coaching client gets the attention they deserve. If you're interested in working together, let's start with a conversation to make sure we're a good fit and that I can serve you within a reasonable timeframe.

Do you take insurance?
No - I do not accept insurance for coaching.

Do you do any assessments?
I believe strongly in doing assessments to establish a baseline for progress. I'm certified to give and interpret the Hogan Assessment and the Wharton School 360 tool. I can also access and read DISC, Strong, StrengthsFinder, Leadership Circle, 360 M-R and others through strategic partnerships with other executive coaches. If a client does not come with an assessment tool in mind, I will typically provide a mini-assessment form to help us establish a starting point and set measurable goals, before launching into the coaching.
