What This Engagement Focuses On
During the Private Pay System™, we focus on marketing decisions that directly affect how clients find you, understand your work, and decide to reach out.
This includes decisions around:
- Positioning & buyer fit
Clarifying who the practice is built for, what it should be chosen for, and which signals attract (or repel) the right inquiries.
- Expectation-setting before first contact
Identifying where pricing, process, and commitment expectations are formed across referrals, online presence, and early conversations.
- Outreach strategy & referral amplification
Defining who to reach out to, how to talk about your work clearly, and which relationships are worth deepening to support private-pay demand.
- Online presence amplification
Determining how your website, Psychology Today profile, and Google Business Profile should work together to reinforce positioning and attract aligned inquiries.
- Visibility priorities & sequencing
Deciding which marketing channels deserve focused attention now (and which should be paused) so effort compounds instead of fragments.
Why the Private Pay System™ Works
Most private-pay friction isn’t caused by a lack of marketing activity. It’s caused by unclear or mis-sequenced decisions.
When positioning is fuzzy, outreach becomes awkward. When visibility expands before expectations are clear, inquiries become misaligned. And when practices keep adding tactics without resolving these issues, effort and expenses increase while confidence erodes.
The Private Pay System™ works because it slows the process down at the right moment, long enough to establish clarity, sequence decisions intentionally, and reduce noise, before more marketing is added.
This creates a steadier path to attracting aligned private-pay clients, without relying on volume, urgency, or constant reinvention.
What PPS Is Not
To keep the Private Pay System™ focused and effective, it is intentionally not an implementation package.
This work does not include:
- Done-for-you marketing execution (website rewrites, page builds, SEO implementation, content production)
- Funnel builds, lead magnets, or email nurture sequences
- Advertising setup or campaign management
- Ongoing coaching, open-ended accountability, or long-term advisory retainers
- Real-time availability or guaranteed response times
If execution support becomes appropriate after decisions are made and the path is clear, it is discussed separately and scoped intentionally.
Who the Private Pay System™ Is For
This engagement is a strong fit if you:
- Are building or refining a private-pay or boutique practice
- Are getting inquiries, but not consistently the right ones
- Feel pressure to “do more marketing” without confidence it will help
- Want a clear, defensible path to attracting clients without overextending
- Are ready to make and hold clear marketing decisions
The Private Pay System™ is not a fit if you’re looking for hands-on implementation, tactical execution, or rapid growth pushes.
Outcomes of the Work
By the end of the Private Pay System™, clients typically leave with:
- A clear positioning stance they can articulate consistently
- Alignment between pricing, positioning, and client expectations
- A defined outreach and referral strategy that supports private-pay work
- A clear plan for amplifying their online presence without overextending
- Decisions about where visibility should increase—and where effort should stop
- Reduced second-guessing and lower risk of overspending on misaligned tactics
The result: a clearer, more intentional path for attracting the right clients, without chasing volume, urgency, or unnecessary complexity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you guarantee private‑pay clients?
No. The Private Pay System™ is not a lead-generation promise or a client guarantee. It’s a marketing decision system designed to help you make clearer, more defensible choices about positioning, outreach, and visibility. Results depend on how those decisions are applied over time.
Is this coaching?
Not in the traditional sense. PPS is a time-bound advisory engagement focused on diagnosis, evaluation, and decision-making. It includes structured sessions and targeted between-session support, but it is not ongoing coaching or accountability.
Is this done-for-you marketing?
No. PPS does not include implementation or asset creation. You will not receive rewritten pages, campaigns, funnels, or content. Any analysis or research provided is used to support decisions, not to build marketing assets.
How much time should I expect to spend each week?
Most clients spend time preparing for sessions and applying decisions between sessions. The workload is intentionally contained and designed to be manageable alongside a clinical caseload.
Do you edit my website, profiles, or materials?
No. We review and evaluate existing assets to identify mixed signals and decision gaps, but PPS does not include editing, rewriting, or hands-on updates.
Do I need to be active on social media for this to work?
No. PPS focuses on outreach strategy, referrals, and online presence amplification where buyer intent already exists. Social media is not required.
Is this appropriate for newer practices?
Yes, in specific situations. PPS can support newer practices once there is basic stability and real decision context (e.g., consistent inquiries, initial revenue, and clarity about services). Very early-stage practices that are still establishing fundamentals are usually better served by foundational education or execution-first support. The Client Fit Call is used to determine readiness and timing.
What happens after PPS is complete?
At the end of the engagement, you leave with clear decisions and a defined path forward. Any additional support or execution work, if appropriate, is discussed separately and never assumed.
