What is the story you carry around your voice?
Have you ever wished to change it or break free from its confines and sing fully into what's coming through?
In a time when many of us are longing to use our voice and be heard in the world, this workshop will take us into all the parts of the voice and how we can put it to use more effectively, with ease. Singing, and simply humming, regulates our nervous systems. Singing together amplifies the joy and creates a beautiful energetic field.
The voice is a crucial part of the human body that communicates so much to the world. In 5Rhythms, we dwell deeply in the body to listen to its messages. Come explore this connection between voice and body in motion in a one day workshop focused on building awareness, freedom, and fluidity in the voice. We will practice movement meditation and sing, building trust within the self and community. You'll take away vocal warm up techniques that promote relaxation and range, in addition to information on vocal anatomy.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Debby found 5Rhythms in 2006, though she had been dancing her whole life. She received her certification as a teacher in 2018. She holds weekly classes in Charlottesville. She is an AMI certified Montessori teacher, ages 3-12, holds an MEd, and has studied Orff-Schulwerk music education Levels 1 & 2. She has offered Mindful Parenting workshops as well. A year and a half ago, she left the classroom to work at The Front Porch, where works in the outreach program and the music school.  She has studied voice since 2020, and has taken Level I of Somatic Voicework. As a dancer, she finds the connection of voice with the body particularly fascinating. She loves studying the process of singing, singing with others, and feeling the field that forms when we harmonize and play in the musical space together. Debby lives in Charlottesville, VA with her husband, mom, and cats. She has two grown sons.
