Big Emotions, Strong Connections
A 4-part interactive workshop series

Supporting young people with ADHD often means navigating big emotions, rejection sensitivity, and moments when everything escalates quickly.

Small corrections can suddenly turn into big reactions.
Feedback can feel like rejection.
Caregivers sometimes find themselves walking on eggshells, unsure when the next explosion might happen.

In the classroom, dysregulation may appear as frustration, disengagement, or shutdown - moments when emotional overwhelm takes up the brain resources students need for attention, memory, and flexible thinking.

Many caregivers and educators experience a powerful shift when they realize:
Big emotional reactions are signals of struggle - not something directed at us personally.

From that place of understanding, we can stay grounded, support regulation, and return to problem-solving once everyone is calm.

Why this matters

Regulation is the foundation for learning and collaborative problem-solving.
When the nervous system is overwhelmed, the brain loses access to the executive functioning skills that support learning and collaboration.
When regulation is restored, those skills come back online.
This workshop explores how caregivers and educators can support that shift.

In this workshop series we explore

• the nervous system behind emotional reactions
• rejection sensitivity and shame loops
• co-regulation in challenging moments
• repairing relationships after conflict
• helping young people understand their emotional intensity

Drawing from the work of:
Dr. Tamara Rosier
Dr. Dan Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson
Dr. Mona Delahooke
Dr. Meghan Anna Neff
Ross Greene
we explore research-informed perspectives and practical ways to support regulation and connection.

Format
