Yoga Nidra is my favourite practice amongst all of the offerings that we can tap into through the ancient practice of Yoga.

What I love about it is that in a short space of time, I can access the deepest rest and yet not fall asleep. I feel like I am floating between being fully awake and fully asleep. I don't have to sleep for two hours to feel rested - I can get the same boost of energy after 20 minutes! It really is an amazing experience.

The guided Meditation / Relaxation is usually done lying down with as many props as you need to be supremely comfortable, and I would always recommend to use headphones, if you have them.

The structure of a Yoga Nidra contains some or all of the following elements:
  • Settling the body
  • Settling the breath
  • Creating & Repeating your Sankalpa / Intention
  • Mindful rotation around the body
  • Breathwork
  • Opposite sensations - e.g. Heavy / Light or Warm / Cold
  • Visualisation - e.g walking in a forest, finding something of meaning
  • Silence
  • Repeating your Sankalpa / Intention again
  • Becoming aware of the body & breath again to come back

The three 20 minute Yoga Nidras in this package are based on scripts by Monika Daniel with beautiful language and inspired visualisations. They really provide the listener with the feeling of coming back home to themself.

I hope you enjoy using these on a regular basis, and if you find the practice helpful, maybe try the 30 minute Nidras too!
