You bring extraordinary effort, energy and care to your work. Without strong self-care practices, that same devotion can quietly deplete your gifts. Caring for your own well-being isn't a selfish act; it's a necessity that allows you to shine your brightest for yourself and the students you support.

This 4-hour professional development experience is designed to give educators – teachers, counselors, school leaders and the many others who play a role in schools – an opportunity to explore practices that can restore and nourish you so you can continue to make a positive impact on students.

You'll have an opportunity to participate in two breakout sessions covering the following topics:
  • Breathe, Rest, Reset: Nervous System Regulation for Educators (with Somatic Practitioner, Kim Brooks) Learn how stress shows up physically in your body, practice nervous system regulation breathwork techniques that you can use in a hallway or at your desk. Finish with a guided rest practice to settle your system fully. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mat, blanket, and pillow if they'd prefer to lie down rather than participate seated in a chair.
  • Energetic Self-Care (with Energy Alchemist, Dena Deglau, Ph.D.) Constant public facing self-regulation and the emotional labor of mediating student experiences can lead to stored tension. Clearing this stored energy everyday is an important act of self-care for teachers. This workshop will assist in identifying both the drains and sources of your energy during the teaching day and provide specific ways of clearing and dislodging this heavy energy from the body through specific techniques used by energy practitioners.
  • Protect Your Spark: Purpose, Passion & Well-Being (with Faith-Forward Leader, Krysten Lamb) A new school year brings fresh purpose and new opportunities—but sustaining your passion requires intentional care for the person behind the profession. In this interactive wellness experience, educators will explore what fuels their sense of purpose, identify practices that protect their well-being, and create a personal plan for staying fulfilled and preventing burnout throughout the school year.
  • Regulate & Restore: Yoga for Educators (with Embodied Expression Coach, Jillian Pawlowski) An experience designed to help educators slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and learn simple tools for regulating their nervous systems both in the classroom and throughout the day. Participants should bring their own yoga mats. Other props will be available, but participants may also bring their own.

This professional development is being provided by a collective of teachers, coaches and healers in a variety of health and wellness related fields, and is sponsored by Anne Arundel Community College for CEUs (continuing education units). Upon purchasing this package, you'll receive an email to register with AACC and to select your breakout sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have to purchase this PD from an outside vendor?
The organizer, Chris DeGuzman, is an adjunct professor of Anne Arundel Community College. Registration and facilitation of this event is being handled by Chris under her personal business, FreshLeap Coaching & Consulting. The co-facilitators are a collective of practitioners who work independently and share a common belief in the importance of supporting educators.
How will I obtain my CEUs?
Upon purchasing this package you'll receive a link to register for this course through Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). The CEU fee is included in your registration and will be paid to AACC by FreshLeap Coaching & Consulting. AACC will issue your CEUs soon after. Attendance at the event is mandatory.
How will I select my breakout sessions?
You'll receive an electronic form with the breakout session descriptions and the opportunity to rank the options in order of your preference. Since some of the sessions include movement, this restricts the number of participants we can have in those sessions. We'll do our best to give each participant their top options. You'll receive an email no later than September 17 with confirmation of your breakout sessions.
Can I get a refund if I'm unable to attend?
The CEU fee (approximately $35) will be refunded provided you contact Chris - chris@freshleapcoaching.com - no later than the day after the event (Sunday, September 20, 2026) with your request. The remaining portion is non-refundable.
