Softening into Presence Retreat

A day of rest and renewal hosted at Sky Pond in Apex, NC

✨ NEW DATE ✨ Saturday, December 12  |  10:30am - 4pm

Retreat Details:

Saturday, December 12 from 10:30am-4:00pm
Sky Pond, 118 Rocky Road, Apex, NC 27523

This day retreat at the serene Sky Pond is an invitation to slow down and care for yourself, as we journey into the darkest part of the year. Together we will practice softening into presence through gentle yoga, breathwork, quiet time in nature, and the supportive companionship of other lovely humans.

Here's the retreat flow for our day together:

~ Arrival and settling in, including introductions and intention-setting for the day
~ Gentle yoga session with restorative poses, breathwork, and journaling prompts to help you tune in and come back to your body
~ Nourishing lunch (honoring food sensitivities) with time for connection and conversation
~ Quiet solo time for being in nature, writing, meditating, yoga, getting crafty, watching the birds, napping… whatever feels restorative to you
~ Afternoon tea time with seasonal snacks as we come back together
~ Closing fireside circle (weather permitting) for reflection, sharing & integrating the retreat experience

FAQs:

What  is accessibility like at Sky Pond?
  • The driveway and parking area are unpaved but relatively even ground and ~20 ft from the main cabin.
  • There is one step up to enter the bathhouse, which has a toilet, sitting bench, and shower.
  • The yoga studio space is on the second floor, with 12 steps and bilateral rails. Our morning yoga session will be held upstairs -- all other group activities will be on the main floor.
  • Outdoor spaces will be available for individual exploration. There is a walking trail that loops around the pond. Places to sit and enjoy nature closer to the house will also be available.
  • Please email me with any questions, concerns, or specific accommodations that would support you.

What will be served for lunch?
  • We'll have a vegetarian lunch, often with vegan and gluten-free options (I'll ask you about any food sensitivities & allergies in advance).
  •  You're also more than welcome to bring your own lunch and/or snacks -- whatever makes you most comfortable!

What should I bring with me? What materials will be available?
  • You might like to have these few essentials: a notebook/journal, a reusable water bottle, comfy clothes. You're also welcome to bring anything that would be nourishing during solo time!
  • Yoga mats and props will be available throughout the day, both in the studio space and for use outside.
  • There will also be some arts/crafts supplies for your use and written journal/reflection prompts to explore.

What if I sign up but then am unable to attend the retreat?
  • If you aren't able to attend the retreat, I am happy to offer you a 1-to-1 session with me as an alternative, covered by your retreat registration.

Who is leading this retreat?
  • This retreat will be led by Lindsay Voorhees, who is an occupational therapist and certified yoga teacher.
  • Lindsay is very passionate about helping others cultivate practices of intentional rest. She believes that rest is a human right (not a privilege) and foundational to whole-self health, especially for folks navigating chronic health issues.
