COMIX COVEN 2027

Rather than a short burst of inspiration followed by another long stretch alone, Coven offers a steady rhythm across the year: reading together, talking seriously about craft, making pages, sharing work in progress, experimenting, getting unstuck, and returning again and again to the projects that matter to us.

We meet twice each month online.

Our first monthly gathering is a Book + Craft discussion, centered on a graphic narrative chosen for the questions it opens up around form, structure, visual language, pacing, memory, voice, sequence, image, text, and the many ways comics can carry meaning.

Our second gathering is Studio Coven: a more hands-on session devoted to developing our own work. These meetings may include generative prompts, practical craft exercises, project development, conversation about what’s working and what isn’t, and time to share works in progress in a thoughtful, supportive group.

Across the year, the Coven moves through seasonal themes and creative inquiries rather than following a rigid curriculum. The aim is not constant productivity or polish. It is continuity: building a creative practice that can deepen over time, while giving your project enough attention, experimentation, and companionship to keep moving.

Annual members also receive six private one-on-one mentoring sessions with Maureen, which can be used for project development, structure, visual storytelling, technical questions, creative process, or whatever your work most needs at the time.

I’ll also offer occasional workshops throughout the year that are free for Coven members.

The Coven is intentionally small. It is a place for serious creative work, but also warmth, curiosity, humor, generosity, and the particular pleasure of making alongside other people who understand what it means to keep returning to the page.
