Uncover The Gold
One of my favourite meditation teachers is Tara Brach. Her career spans over 40 years as a mindfulness meditation teacher and a psychologist. Her latest, and apparently last book is called Trusting the Gold and it has inspired me to create a monthly meditation group so that I can help you uncover your gold.
In one of her talks, she speaks about the inspiration and title behind this latest book and I’d love to share it with you.
Her book and title were inspired by a huge clay Buddha in a monastery in Thailand. In 1757 it is believed that monks had covered the statue in clay to protect it so it appeared to be of little or no value when the Burmese army invaded. It wasn’t until 1957 when a group of monks were relocating the monastery that they discovered a glimmer of gold shining through a crack in the clay. The monk then used a chisel and hammer to remove the exterior to uncover a solid gold, Buddha. You can imagine his surprise.
The beautiful takeaway from this story is that under our armour there is gold waiting to be discovered. It can be waiting just under the surface for many years before we realise that what we are looking for has been there all along.
By understanding what's underneath our actions and emotions we can begin to become the observer and uncover the drivers that keep us in reaction mode. Once we become more aware of how our inner world works we can begin to decrease and manage stress in a more useful way.
The shift to freedom happens through not believing these outdated stories about ourselves anymore and peeling our armour off to reveal the gold underneath.
We wear armour every day without even knowing it due to the need to protect ourselves from the stories and life experiences of our past. We tend to protect our egos because that's what we think we are. We identify with our ways rather than looking at what's underneath them believing our limiting stories about who we are and what we are capable of when we are truly capable of so much more.
Once a month we meet online in a group coaching setting making our way through a workbook that I have created especially for this group. By working in this way together you will have the opportunity to hear other people’s stories and struggles, ultimately enriching your experience and understanding of why we wear armour and what to do about it.
These sessions will take you on a journey of revealing the gold that's in you. By bringing your self-awareness to the surface you have the tools to access the gold whenever you need it to live a life with more joy, ease and contentment.
Group coaching can be channelled anytime, so no ongoing commitment if it's not for you.
*All online sessions are recorded so don't worry if you can't make one.
