ANGER 101 — THE REPLAY
This 2.5-hour workshop for growth-oriented women will explore the 1 emotion women are *not* supposed to feel or express: ANGER.
If you, like most women, were raised in a home where you were not allowed to be angry, point out injustices, stick up for yourself, or tell people no — this workshop is for you.
Just as boys are conditioned to not be vulnerable, girls are conditioned to not be angry. So it's no wonder that we grow up into women who are genuinely confused about anger. Let's change that!
In this workshop I'll unpack why anger is such a vitally important emotion, reframe disempowering messages you received about it through a feminist lens, & load you up with practical skills to hear what your anger is saying to you & express it in a healthy way. We’ll talk about all of this in broad terms & then make it personal, exploring what YOUR anger is saying to you & how you can start using it to take empowering action in your life.
In addition to significant teaching periods in this workshop, expect to do some self-reflective journaling, meet lovely, feminist women from all over, & participate in a Q&A session where you're welcome to ask me anything about anger.
If you want to learn how to befriend your anger & express it in a healthy way — I'd love to share this experience with you!
TOPICS WE'LL COVER:
• What anger's role is & why it's such a vitally important emotion.
• Why anger is taboo for women, just as vulnerability is taboo for men.
• How these emotional no-go zones serve patriarchy & why it's so important to resist.
• Becoming familiar with how anger works inside your body.
• Skills to "hear" what your anger is saying to you.
• Practices to work with & metabolize your anger.
• Healthy vs. unhealthy ways of expressing your anger.
• Creating personal boundaries with yourself to stay in the "healthy anger-zone," neither collapsing nor exploding.
• Reacting to what's happening now vs. taking past unresolved anger out on people.
• Traps women often fall into & how to avoid them, such as: feeling sad rather than angry because it feels safer, numbing rather than listening, ignoring needs and then exploding like a volcano, getting angry but not following through (protesting), gas-lighting our anger by over-empathizing with other people.
• The audacity to center yourself & take action on your own behalf.
• How revolutionary it is to center your needs & hold your ground in the face of people who unrelentingly want you to be a pleasing doormat who centers them.
• Dealing with how trusting your anger & honoring your needs will change your life.
• Authenticity vs attachment.
