Testimonials
The Trauma-Informed Care Training I received with Sam has been sooooo beneficial for me. I was able to get questions answered that I haven't been able to in my entire time as a yoga instructor and practitioner. It flipped a switch for me. Like, lights on moment...as a yoga instructor and massage therapist, we hear things like, "it's not your responsibility to heal people and fix people..." but, it IS our responsibility to be BETTER and trained well for those we serve. For the most part, the bit that goes unsaid is that the way we do offer help can sometimes be harmful and unhelpful. It is our responsibility to learn how to hold each other with delicacy with the unknown or unseen parts of ourselves being honored, respected, and to have transparent communications just in case. I am hoping to be a better human for all the people and students I am connected to, and I recognize the ignorance I've had in the past. I signed up for this training to do the work to fix the deficits in me, and I am so thankful I did and know I am well on my way! I would highly recommend anyone who works with people to take this training!!"

I had high expectations for Sam when I hired her to train my team/contractors in trauma-informed care. She blew my expectations out of the water. It was exactly what we needed, and more! The conversations we had as a group were powerful, and I know each of my team members learned a great deal and were positively impacted by the experience. We are going to be able to serve our community so much better; the investment was worth every penny! If you work with people, you NEED this training. It will change your life and practice for the better!!

This was the best investment I made in my business this year. I really loved that a concept was introduced, and then we were given time to practice implementation -- the practice piece is always what helps solidify things for me! All of the content is relevant and the confidence it brought me in approaching these types of situations and opening up the conversations that need to be had is invaluable.

Sam's expertise is second to none and the community-engaged, trauma-informed way she leads the course modeled for us how to hold a space in a trauma-informed way. I also loved how she varied the course content, had a mix of teaching, videos, breakout groups, practice scenarios, etc -- it was a really nice balance. I really enjoyed watching the videos and having a discussion about them. I also REALLY liked the scenarios and the breakout rooms. Having to actually say what we would say in any given situation was invaluable.

Anyone who works with people needs this course, especially, professionals that engage with human-centered, justice-oriented work.

Frequently Asked Questions
What will I be able to call myself after this training?
How will this benefit my business?
Second, you should proudly display your certificate of completion in your marketing, on your website, and in any other regular advertising materials so that potential referral sources and prospective clients can easily recognize your commitment to being trauma-informed.
Finally, you will find it easier to develop rapport with your prospective clients and community referral sources as this certificate naturally increases the trust-factor of your brand and services.
I just don't know if I actually need this...I haven't had any clients disclose personal things like trauma or grief, so why should I take this course?
I'm a little concerned about liability. Will this open me up to increased risk of being sued?
Having clear cut guidelines to abide by and steps to take during a challenging situation with a trauma survivor client is a primary way that you minimize your risk of having legal action brought against you.
Knowing how to directly communicate your scope of practice and the expectations your clients should and should not have of you leaves little room for someone to question your actions or intentions.
Finally, by having knowledge of resources and best practices, you will inherently reduce your risk for legal problems because clients will have the information to care for themselves in way your services can't provide versus continuing to push the boundary with you.
I'm a trauma-survivor myself, and I'm nervous that my own experiences will make it difficult for me to fully engage and do a good job remaining present in the training. Should I still do it?
Expectations will be laid out at the beginning of the training, and you will be in s safe space not only to learn but also to explore your own reactions to what you are learning.
Remember, we should never expect or ask our clients/customers to do something that we are not willing to do ourselves.
What happens after the training...what if I have a question or need help with a specific situation?
There will be an opportunity to book future, 20-minute trauma-informed consultations with Sam on an as-needed basis.
Will the training be recorded?
Further, you must attend live, with your camera ON in order to receive credit for completion.
