What is coaching? Is it the same as counseling, therapy or consulting?
Great question! While they might look similar from the outside, the goals are different. Therapy/Counseling focuses on healing and the past. Coaching focuses on growth and the future. Unlike a mentor or consultant, a coach isn't there to give you the 'right' answers or tell you what to do. Instead, coaching is a creative partnership that challenges you to think differently, helping you uncover your own insights and take productive action.
What should I expect in a coaching session?
I love this question! Let me provide a simple explanation: There's a process. We begin in a resourceful state. We focus on a topic together and an outcome to achieve during our session together. We explore the topic's impact in your life and its meaning for you. We clarify the outcomes you're after and identify action you can succeed at to make progress toward those outcomes. We review. We adjust as necessary. We build on each session as you move forward!
How often do we meet for coaching?
Having sessions ten (10) to twenty (20) days apart often builds a good rhythm. Momentum is valuable in helping you progress toward your objectives. Of course, we will accommodate each other's needs and commitments as necessary.
Do we meet face to face, phone or video?
We meet via Google Meet video conferencing. When you schedule a session for a specific time and date, you will receive an email confirmation that includes a link for this session. Simply click on this link a few minutes before the scheduled time and we'll begin together.
How long is a coaching session?
~ One (1) hour. "Check-in" sessions, when available, are fifteen-minute phone calls between coaching sessions.
Do I need anything for our coaching sessions?
I recommend having a notebook handy for capturing your insights and action items. This helps you retain and act on breakthroughs we create together.
You will need internet access and technology that allows you to participate in video conference calls. (power, speaker, microphone). To listen and speak without interruption, I recommend a private setting. When you schedule, you'll receive an email with a link for our call. At the scheduled time, click the link.
Are our conversations confidential?
100%, Absolutely! Having completed training through an ICF-accredited training program, I value and comply with the International Coaching Federation code of ethics. Transcripts and session notes are maintained for record keeping purposes and for my private review. These records are digitally secured and accessible only by me. For more details about confidentiality, session transcripts, and Meet notes, clients are encouraged to review the coaching agreement.
Can two of us participate in the same coaching session at the same time?
No. The coach/client relationship is private and confidential. Spouses and partners are frequently integral to a client's life, and the 1:1 confidentiality of the coaching relationship may serve to enhance these relationships. (see next FAQ for more information)
How do my spouse/partner and I both participate at the same time?
You and your partner are unique, with a shared journey. It's valuable for you to explore the coaching experience concurrently, but independently. You and your spouse/partner will enjoy individual coaching sessions that allow you to clarify your unique visions in ways that enhance your life together. Growing together may be the most rewarding element of your journey. As a special consideration to encourage both of you to participate, your spouse/partner is eligible to select the package that matches yours at a discount. (A coupon code will be provided to you after the first S/P registers) A spouse/partner discount is available for all packages except for the (already discounted) introductory package.
How much does coaching cost?
The specific investment for each coaching opportunity is listed under the heading "Packages". New clients may select the "Introductory Package" at a discounted rate. Multi-session options are available, and the per-session rate declines with the number of sessions chosen. Additionally, monthly payment plans are available for all Packages to help you build momentum and achieve results while remaining budget-friendly. Please review detailed information within the description of the available "Package" options. (monthly payment plans include a small, one-time "service fee" to offset processing fees)
What if I want to have coaching on a specific topic that's important to me?
Fantastic! I'm happy to partner with you on specific topics that are important to you! I believe four (4) sessions is a minimum to get clarity and a game-plan together, so the available "Flexible" Package options include four, six, or eight sessions. If you're a new client, you can also take advantage of the discounted "Introductory Package"!
Can I start or stop at any time?
Of course you may stop if you feel it's necessary. That being said, Packages are pre-paid and are not refunded if you choose to discontinue. You may learn more about this policy during your complimentary Q & A session and within the coaching agreement.
