I started in January with a 90 day challenge, and felt like I would benefit from the back to spring program, and trying Hunter spring, so I almost immediately dropped into a back to spring program. I’m just finishing that up this week. Today’s assignment is to go to our groups and list our benefits that we have found. Frankly, I often ignore the assignments publicly and just do them on my own in my journal, but I thought this one would be a good one to actually participate in, mostly because I’ve been thinking about just this thing here lately.
Every year I go through and pick three or four words to represent what I want to feel like in the coming year. This year, my words were READY, LIGHT, AND CONTENT. I love words and their nuances, and these three words go along way in that regard. If you look at each word from a standpoint of physicality, emotional health, and intellectual and professional health and growth, the cover a lot of ground. Undoubtedly, since January, I have grown leaps and bounds in all regards.
Now for some specifics:
My back no longer hurts every morning when I get up or every time I stand from a chair.
12-15 hour shifts no longer absolutely beat me down. I actually still have energy when I get off at 0200!
My runs (I’m running again!) improve each week, and my HRV and resting HR are both already much better.
My hands joints are no longer sore all the time.
My skin looks more vibrant and dewy, less dry spots.
My sleep has DRASTICALLY improved and so has my husband because I’m no longer snoring like a bear, and I usually only  wake up once a night. As a matter of fact, with Hunter Spring some nights, I don’t wake up at all to go to the bathroom where I had been waking up at least once every night.
I no longer feel constantly driven by thoughts of snacks and sweets, and the constant fight in my brain against those cravings and thoughts. don’t give me wrong, I do often still think about grabbing a snack, but I am more easily able to redirect that or choose something that isn’t disastrous but instead is appropriate.
My anxiety has definitely calmed down some. It isn’t going all the way, and maybe it never will be, but it is definitely better. I also have more days of light and happy mood as opposed to dark and sad, worried and brooding.
For the first time in years, the last few days, I have felt comfortable in my own skin.
I have lost somewhere around 20 pounds. Keep in mind, I did this in about five months. In 10 months of Weight Watchers last year, I lost about 15 pounds.
I know there are more things, but I’m about to have to go start one of those 12 to 14 hour shifts. At least now I know that at the end of it I’ll still have a little bit of gas left in the tank.
